Our Extreme Northwest Passage Back
Oct 4, 2021
In September of 2021, Artwestimage photographers Greg and John Nelson traveled across Washington on Highway 20, the northernmost route through the North Cascade Mountain Range to the Puget Sound. After three days of exploring Whidbey Island, they ferried to Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula and traveled Highway 101, having a look at the Olympic Rainforest and the Washington Coast to Cape Disappointment. They continued into Oregon on Highway 101 and scouted the entire length of the Coastal Highway, photographing rocky shorelines, beaches, harbors, and fishing villages beginning with Astoria and finishing with Brookings. In between, our team explored Cannon Beach, Cape Meares, Pacific City, Newport, Depoe Bay, Cape Blanco, and Coos Bay.
Once in California, the pair did an extended stop in Eureka and two days camping in the Redwoods before changing to Cali Highway 1, where they traveled all the way to San Fran. After three days in San Francisco, where we captured hundreds of off-beat cultural venues, our team returned to Montana through Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
What a great way to celebrate the fall season in the Northwest, spending sixteen days exploring the greatest locations north and west on an "extreme" roadtrip. View and purchase our best photographs, from the best scenic locations, in Artwestimage's BEST series of 2021!
