- Description: Sauerbier's Blacksmith Shop circa 1863, is in use by a modern day artisan is "very much alive" with many of the period tools from the 1860's. Shown is a Concord style buggy with a leather upholstered, button-tufted bench seat and backrest. Buggies gave horse drawn transportation to the lower and middle classes, costing around $50. Hundreds of small companies produced buggies and their wide use helped to encourage the grading and graveling of main rural roads and actual paving in towns.
