- Title: Sea Lions in Newport Bay
- Description: California sea lions love to lay on the rocks and the docks while they are visiting Yaquina Bay. The Port Dock One shown here is the main place to see them up-close. California sea lions are native to the Pacific Ocean, ranging from Alaska to central Mexico. They are highly gregarious animals, congregating onshore by the dozens to “haul out”, or rest out of the water. Males can reach more than seven feet in length and weigh up to 1,000 pounds; females are much smaller, measuring up to six feet long and weighing less than 300 pounds. This group was more than happy to pose for the camera during our team's September 2021 visit.
