- Title: Cairn on Deception Pass Beach
- Description: Attracted by its abundant resources and protected shorelines, Coast Salish tribes settled the area now known as Deception Pass. These tribes are well known for their spiritual strength and artistic accomplishments. Their stories continue to be an integral element of the park’s values. On North Beach on Deception Pass Strait, sunrise was bright and brilliant. Clouds from the previous day had cleared and the fog burnt off quickly, making for a glorious morning. Deception Island is in the photograph's center, just above the little rock cairn, which is likely to have been erected by visitors the previous day.
