- Title: Peyto Lake, Banff NP
- Description: Peyto Lake, headwaters of the Mistaya River in Banff National Park, lies below the majestic ridge of 9500-foot Chaldron Peak. The glacial lake is dammed at its lower end by a moraine ridge dating from an early stage of Peyto Glacier. The lake can be seen from a variety of viewing perspectives, all of which can be reached from a paved parking area. A shoreline trail also exists, from the Icefield's Parkway trailhead about a mile north of the main viewing access road. It is 1.5 miles one way and drops 400 feet to the lakeshore.
