- Title: Mount Paul Above Spirit Island
- Description: The Indigenous Peoples of Canada were the first to discover Spirit Island, on Lake Maligne in Jasper National Park. The lake itself was a place of great spiritual significance, in addition to a regular destination for summer season retreats to hunt and fish along the lakeshores. Named by the native peoples, the “Lake of Deep Waters” and “Lake of Healing”, Spirit Island is especially important as part of their lore. It also was a primary "bucket-list" destination on our Canada West tour, as we have seen this serene setting countless times in photography publications, nature journals, and tourism magazines. As our time was limited at Spirit Island we worked to get as many photographs of the sight as possible, including this rare portrait orientation version. With Mount Paul showing prominently in the background, this is one of our favorites!
