- Description: As told by an old First Nations legend, a boy and girl from two different tribes met on Spirit Island in secrecy. Their respective tribes were enemies, and later the girl confessed of her love of the boy to her father. He banned her from ever returning to Spirit Island, which caused heartbreak for the lovers. The boy continued to visit the island, hoping to meet the girl again, but he never saw her again and eventually died on the island. Legend has it that his spirit still haunts the island, and thus the name became!
