- Title: Lions Gate Bridge from Prospect Point, Vancouver, BC
- Description: The Lions Gate Bridge is one of Vancouver's most recognizable landmarks and can be seen from numerous locations in West Vancouver. The bridge was constructed in 1937, after years of speculation and planning, and once completed was recognized as the longest suspension bridge in the British Empire and one of the biggest construction projects undertaken in Canada during the Depression period of the 1930s. The bridge was a major impetus to real estate development on the North Shore, uniting both sides of Burrard Inlet. On our first night in Vancouver, we stayed at the Capilano River RV Park, which is located just beyond the approach ramp in our photograph. Other than the location being a bit noisy from the highway traffic, it was a good place to hunker down for the night!
