- Title: Vikingsholm Tower
- Description: The Vikingsholm castle was built for Lora J. Knight, widow of a Chicago multimillionaire, who lived in the house until her death in 1945. From a parking lot on State Highway 89, visitors reach the site via a steep one-mile trail. The thirty-eight-room mansion built between 1928 and 1929, resembles an ancient Norse fortress and chieftain’s castle. Designed by Swede Lennart Palme, the two-story stone structure has on each end a tower, one three stories high and the other two. The later, resembling a medieval tower turret is depicted here.
