  • Title:  Zephyr Cove Cobbles
  • Description:  Native American Washoe people had been living on these beautiful, peaceful shores for hundreds of years. In 1844, American explorers Kit Carson and John Fremont were the first to explorers in the Zephyr Cove area on the Southeast side of Lake Tahoe. In the 1860s, silver was discovered in the area and prospectors flocked here to seek their fortunes. Now it serves as the pier location for the Tahoe Queen and several major resorts northeast of Stateline, Nevada. We had the shores to ourselves on this early morning in March. Note the clarity of the water. Lake Tahoe boasts some of America's purest.
